Every once in a while you experience something that alters your thinking and assists you to move to a different beat.  Peter McKeon's delivery of the Salesmasters International learning experience in Professional Selling has been one of those times for the majority of my staff here in Direct Sales Telemarketing, Telstra Mobiles.

Everyone acknowledges that continual performance improvement is part of their professional lives however making the changes required to maximise skills and to open our collective minds to new ideas is not always easy.  This combined with the relentless changes we face means it is a challenge for us as leaders to move people out of their comfort zones into using new, and in reality, far simpler ways of maximising the use of our and our customer's time.  Peter promised to deliver the road map, customised to Telstra Mobiles Telemarketing, and he certainly did.

Hello Peter

Myself and Glen took a trip to Sydney last week to see an old customer and two current ones. We used parts of what we had learnt at our weekend from you and guess what, I believe instant success.

The client was an orphan and we had presented a quotation a few days earlier. When speaking with the guy he mentioned we were not the cheapest quote but weren't far off. That's when I launched the phras (In the 37 years I have been in business customers ask for three things Quality Delivery and price) you know what happens after that.

He sat bent forward looked at the other guy that was sitting in on the meeting and just opened up with a barrage of questions regarding his job. We received the order that afternoon.

Dear Peter,

I would like to express my thanks for your help over the past six or so months.  I am not naïve enough to believe that that the training and processes put in place have been the sole reason for the successes that I have had in February and March, but at the same time I am very aware that if I had have conducted myself in a “business as usual” manner, I would not have achieved anything like the figures that I have.

I am more than happy to report that, having reached the end of the first quarter of the year, I have made over 60% of the income that I made for the whole of last year, and am at a level of sales that I would normally have been looking to achieve by the end of June.  This is all the more pleasing given the fact that I sold nothing in January.  The training process as a whole has provided me with the motivation and the tools to lift my performance to a higher level, and for that I am extremely grateful.
